Indoor & Outdoor Positioning

An indoor & outdoor positioning system is essential for identifying the position of objects and people within an indoor space. It is typically created by combining a base station, wireless communication, and internal navigation positioning with other essential technologies. Most positioning systems rely on wireless positioning technologies like Zigbee, RFID, ultra-wideband, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, infrared, and ultrasound. The only downside of these technologies is that they may not be ideal for low-cost, long-range, low-power, and accurate indoor location systems.

The downsides of these other technologies are what make solutions that use LoRaWAN and the new generation BLE great positioning technology. At MOKOLoRa, we provide the best low-cost wireless location tool for your outdoor and indoor positioning needs. Our solution combines our BLE probe, Beacon, and LoRaWAN-based GPS tracker to form a comprehensive location system.

Scenario 1: Our solution enables both indoor & outdoor positioning through a combination of BLE beacons and LoRaWAN-based trackers. The trackers typically support GPS and BLE locations, with the GPS being ideal for outdoor applications. As for indoor situations, well-spread BLE beacons broadcast information that is typically scanned by the LoRaWAN-based GPS tracker. This information is then submitted to a LoRaWAN-based server that calculates location details through different methods, such as the Pythagoras Theorem.

Scenario 2: A combination of both BLE beacons and LoRaWAN-based trackers facilitate indoor & outdoor positioning. Our trackers support both GPS and BLE locations, with the former being ideal for outdoor situations. When it comes to indoor positioning, the information being broadcasted by surrounding beacons can be scanned by LoRaWAN-based GPS trackers, which then relays the data to LoRaWAN-based servers. The servers then use the Pythagoras theorem to identify the LoRaWAN-based tracker’s position after it simultaneously scans multiple beacons.
